Members and guests share the responsibility for a positive, respectful, and enjoyable environment. This Code of Conduct describes the
expectations regarding behavior and sets the standards for maintaining the club's values and facilities.
Behavior and Respect
- Treat all members, guests, volunteers, and staff with respect and courtesy, both on and off the course.
Insults, discriminatory behavior, or intimidation will not be tolerated.
- Verbal or physically aggressive behavior has no place at our club.
- Give fellow players space and respect their play. Avoid disruptions or obstructions on the course.
- Always play honestly and with integrity, both in competitions and during social rounds. Cheating or dishonest behavior is considered a serious offense.
- Always be sporting and respectful towards fellow players, spectators, and club staff. Fair play is the foundation of a pleasant golfing experience. Treat your own and other people's equipment with respect.
- Seek constructive solutions to disagreements. Resolve conflicts in a friendly and professional manner, with respect for everyone involved.
Golf course etiquette - general
- Register at reception or via the QR code before entering the course. Ensure your playing rights are in order (annual pass or green fee).
- Respect your tee time and that of others. If you miss your tee time, please notify reception staff as soon as possible.
- A flight consists of a maximum of 4 players. Respect the club's guidelines regarding handicap limits. Each player has their own golf equipment.
- Driving-range balls or practice balls are not permitted on the Main Course and Junior Course, regardless of whether they belong to Brasschaat Open Golf or another club.
- Take good care of the golf course: repair pitch marks, rake bunkers after use, and neatly replace knocked-out divots. Never intentionally damage the course, so that everyone can continue to enjoy it. Vandalism is considered a serious offense.
- Follow the course rules and guidelines, such as maintaining a smooth pace of play and respecting tee times. Allow faster groups to pass when necessary, so that everyone can enjoy the game.
- Show respect for the focus of others by maintaining silence during their shots. Avoid disruptive behavior, unnecessary noise, and other distractions on the course.
- Set mobile phones and other electronic devices to silent or turn them off during play. This way, we can all create a calm and focused atmosphere.
Golf course etiquette - competitions
- Always notify reception staff by phone if you cancel your match after the start lists have been drawn up. No-shows will be recorded and followed up. This may also affect your handicap calculation.
- Always follow the instructions of the marshal, starter, and competition management.
- If you have to leave a competition early, make sure you have a valid reason and notify the Competition Management.
- During competitions, it is important to stay within the prescribed limits for 9 or 18 holes. Flights that consistently deviate from this and arrive more than 15 minutes after the previous flight may receive a collective penalty point, deducted from the net score. The Race Director will decide on this penalty.
- Score cards must be completed correctly and signed to be valid. The Race Director may decide not to retain a score card for irregularities.
- Always indicate your presence or absence at sponsored races.
- Your presence is expected for the presentation of additional prizes (longest, nearest, etc.). If you cannot attend the award ceremony, you may not enter your name for these prizes.
- The dress code for award ceremonies (primarily for sponsored races) is stated in the race information and in the flight schedule you receive by email. A prize may be refused if the dress code is not followed.
Etiquette on the Driving Range and Other Practice Facilities
- Respect the safety of others, both on the driving range and on the course.
- Avoid shots that go over the driving range fence and call "fore" if this does occur. Players who systematically play over the fence will be denied access to the driving range.
- Use of driving range balls on other club facilities outside the driving range is not permitted. These balls may only be used on the chipping green or putting green under the supervision of a teaching pro.
- The use of long clubs (drivers and woods) is not permitted on the upper level of the driving range.
Dress Code
- Members and guests must wear appropriate golf attire and respect the dress code. Torn jeans, tank tops, t-shirts, and inappropriate footwear are not permitted on the Main Course and Junior Course.
- Hats or caps are permitted on the course but must be removed inside the clubhouse.
Use of Facilities
- Always leave the club facilities, such as the clubhouse, driving range, and locker rooms, tidy. This contributes to a pleasant environment for everyone.
- Treat all facilities with care and report any damage immediately to club management.
- Use the facilities responsibly. Intentional damage or misuse will not be tolerated and may result in sanctions. Serious cases will be reported to the police if necessary.
Smoking Alcohol and Drug Policy
- Smoking is not permitted on any part of the premises with the exception of the terrace area of the clubhouse. Please help maintain a healthy and pleasant environment.
- Enjoy alcohol in moderation and respect the club's rules. Excessive alcohol consumption and drug use are not permitted on the Main Course, Junior Course, or in the clubhouse and its facilities. This is how we maintain a safe and respectful environment for everyone.
Safety
- Provide a safe environment and be considerate of others. Ensure players in front of you are completely out of reach before hitting the ball and be aware of the presence of greenkeepers on the course. Safety always comes first.
- Follow the club's safety guidelines and the instructions of staff and volunteers. Take extra precautions during thunderstorms or other hazardous weather conditions, such as leaving the course if advised to do so.
Sanctions for Violations
The management of Brasschaat Open Golf & Country Club reserves the right to take appropriate action at all times (for example,
but not limited to, a warning or suspension) if a visitor, member, supporter, or anyone else present on its premises engages in actions that,
in the club's opinion, jeopardize the sportsmanship, conviviality of club life, safety, health, or integrity of others.
If the club believes that a violation should be dealt with by the members' association Brasschaat Open Golf vzw, the relevant sanctions list may apply.
These rules have been established to guarantee a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for everyone. Honesty, courtesy, and integrity are the values
that every golfer must always respect. By being a member of the club or using its facilities as a guest, you agree to these rules and undertake to comply with them.
